Images of the Day - The Brecon Becons

As we have had pretty bad weather over our national bank holiday, we decided that once we had a hint of clear weather that we would head our for a ride into the countryside to take some photos.

At 2pm on Monday the black clouds broke and we had a little ray of sunshine. We headed for the Brecon Beacon Nation Park which if you have seen my other posts is right on our doorstep.

The first stop off of the afternoon was Cefn Cadlan Quarry, a Disused quarry since the early 1970's It was riddled with 'DANGER' and 'KEEP OUT' signs, but when i see those signs they read 'REALLY SAFE' and 'TAKE PLENTY OF PHOTOS'

Here are the first of the day

The Signage at the entrance to the quarry
Then the best signs to see

A small waterfall that was entering a collapsed part of the quarry wall

A panoramic view from the entrance of the quarry looking over the Brecon Becons

We then moved onto a small outcrop where there were some lambs and mountain ponies. The ponies fled but one stubborn little lamb stood proud and seemed to be posing for the camera.

Onward from Mr.Lamb, we reached the last of 3 Reservoirs in this valley. And boy doesnt it look stunning from this elevation.

About 30 seconds after capturing this shot i realized that i had propped my monopod against a fence back at the Quarry. So a hop back in the car, about turn and gun ho back to see if i could find it.

And there it was lying against the rock, just where i left it.... Phew.

Have a good day all.
