Image of the Week - Waning Gibbous

As the title says, once a week on a Friday I will be adding an Image of the week. This will be my personal favorite photo that i have taken in that particular weeks shooting, it may be totally different to things that i have posted previously and i will try and explain the best I can of the why, who, where of the image.

This weeks image of the week was taken last night and is of the Moon phase Waning Gibbous. Now I know this phase comes round once a month and, how very boring. But........ if the sky is clear this evening and you are looking east toward the moon rise between 10-12pm (GMT) you will be able to see that the planet Mars will not only become visible (albeit smaller in comparison to the moon size), it will look as if it is chasing the moon across the night sky, this is something that does not happen very often and will be a pleasure to see.

For the geeks out there you can use both the moon and Mars as anchor points to be able to find the Leo constellation .

Enough gassing, here is the Image of the week

Thank you

Shaun
